Fascia Board Repair, Soffit Replacement and Fascia Wrapping
We replace rotted fascia boards and damaged soffit, and wrap fascia in low-maintenance PVC. We can fix a few boards while we replace your gutters, or redo the whole roofline.
What fascia and soffit do.
The fascia is the board along the edge of your roof, right behind the gutters. Your gutters are fastened to it. The soffit covers the underside of the roof overhang. When fascia rots, the gutter hangers lose their grip and the gutters can sag or pull away from the house.

Signs your fascia is rotting.
Some damage shows from the ground. Some only turns up once the gutter comes off.
- Soft or crumbling wood
- Peeling paint or stains along the roof edge
- Cracks or broken-down spots in the board
- Water running behind the gutter
- A gutter that keeps pulling loose in the same spot
- Sections of fascia that look different from the wood around them
What we repair and replace.
We’ve installed gutters on more than 16,500 homes and businesses since 1999, and our crews regularly find rotted wood behind old gutters. We can replace it board by board, or across all or part of the house.
Fascia board replacement
We take out the rotted boards and put in new pressure-treated pine, or Azek composite or James Hardie fiber cement board if you prefer.
Fascia wrapping
We cover new or existing fascia with a PVC wrap. It gives the roofline a finished look and helps the wood last longer.
Soffit replacement
We replace damaged soffit under the roof overhang, often along with the fascia and gutters above it.
Trim packages
Maintenance-free trim for your fascia and frieze boards, with new soffit to match.
Materials we use.
We’ll go over the options with you at the estimate.
| Material | Where we use it | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure-treated pine | Replacement fascia boards | Our standard replacement for rotted boards |
| Azek composite | Fascia and frieze boards | Composite board, available if you ask for it |
| James Hardie fiber cement | Fascia boards | Another alternative to wood |
| PVC wrap | Covering new or existing fascia | Low maintenance, and helps the wood underneath last longer |
Fixing fascia during a gutter replacement.
Once the old gutters come down, we can see wood that was hidden behind them. We replace the rotted boards before the new gutters go up, so the hangers screw into solid wood instead of wood that can’t hold them.
If we find rot you didn’t know about, we show you and give you the price before we do the extra work.

Fascia and soffit FAQs
What is a fascia board?
The fascia is the board that runs along the edge of your roof, behind the gutters. It gives the gutters a solid place to attach to the house.
What is the difference between fascia and soffit?
The fascia faces outward along the roof edge. The soffit covers the underside of the roof overhang. They are separate parts, but water damage in one often reaches the other, so it’s worth checking both.
How do I know if my fascia is rotten?
Look for soft or crumbling wood, peeling paint or stains along the roof edge, cracks, water running behind the gutter, or a gutter that keeps pulling loose in the same spot. Some rot only shows once the gutter is taken down.
Can you reattach a gutter to rotten fascia?
Not in a way that lasts. Rotted wood can’t hold the fasteners, so we remove the damaged section, install new material and then hang the gutter on solid wood.
What do you replace fascia boards with?
Pressure-treated pine is our standard. We can also install Azek composite or James Hardie fiber cement board.
What is fascia wrapping?
Wrapping covers the fascia with a finished exterior material once the wood underneath is sound. We typically use a PVC wrap, which looks clean and helps the wood last longer.
Can you replace fascia while you install new gutters?
Yes. Once the old gutters come down we can see the wood behind them, and we replace any rotted boards before the new gutters go up.
Do you replace soffit?
Yes. We replace damaged soffit, usually along with the fascia and gutter work on the same section of roofline.
Can you install gutters if my house has no fascia boards?
That depends. Often we can, as long as there are solid boards at regular intervals to attach the gutters to.
